The IWC hurdle approach
A standalone component does not create an integrated and holistic hurdle hygiene concept. The word hurdle refers to creating a barrier against something - in this case, a barrier against contamination and bacteria advancing to the next process step.
The hurdle concept has existed for some time but has been greatly improved by us. Our Undine® technology significantly enhances the cleaning power of water alone. Undine® takes the hurdle concept to a higher level. In some cases, it can even reduce specific bacteria, such as Salmonella and Enterobacteria, to below detectable levels.
Undine® enables a significant improvement in the overall hygiene level of poultry processing companies. Existing hurdles are made more effective, and, thanks to substantial water savings, additional hurdles that were previously unfeasible can now be implemented.
Undine® - how does it work?
The Undine® technology is, in essence, simple—just as any good technology should be. A simple technique features a straightforward design, allowing for easy installation and low maintenance.
Our secret lies in breaking up the water flow into microdroplets and accelerating them to much higher speeds. These high-speed microdroplets exert more force on contaminants than a traditional water jet alone can.
We have conducted studies to explain the physics behind this process and to demonstrate why Undine® penetrates surfaces more effectively than a standard water jet—without causing surface damage. This is a critical factor when cleaning poultry.
